What is a horse lease?

A horse lease is an opportunity for an individual to lease a horse, for a period of time, without having to purchase one, and.  get to experience the sport of reining, or a reining trained horse. Lessee will have all the responsibilities and cost associated with horse ownership as if they own the horse.  It is a great way for a person to "try" out the sport of reining, or just experience horse ownership.  It allows that individual the time to make sure it is the right fit for them and their lifestyle.  With our leases, the lessee can participate in reining horse shows.

What if I decide I can't or don't want to lease any longer?

Should the need arise that you no longer want to lease the horse (for any reason) the lease may be canceled with a thirty (30) day written notice.

What are the expenses?

The horse is required to be in full training at TMPH at the monthly rate of $1,000. Full training includes board, feed and one lesson per week.  Lessee is responsible for farrier care every 6-8 weeks (or as needed and must be done by our farrier), grooming equipment, tack and any other personal items desired. If lessee does not own saddle/bridle this equipment may be borrowed from TMPH.

Is there a contract?

Yes, horse leases are available in 6 and 12 month terms.  Click here to see a copy of the TMPH lease contract.
